Welcome
REGISTERED CHARITY NUMBER- 1139115
* PLEASE NOTE CHANGE TO OPENING DAYS*
Ribble Valley Shopmobility is a charity funded organisation which provides scooters, manual and powered wheelchairs and power packs to enable people with limited mobility to shop independently and use the town centre facilities. The scheme may be used by the young or old regardless of whether their disability is temporary or permanent. First time users will need to register (free of charge) and training in the use of the vehicle will be provided. A small charge will be made for the hire of the equipment to ensure the future running of the scheme. Any additional donations are also welcome.
Ribble Valley Shopmobility is located on Lowergate close to the town centre. It is open from 10am-3pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays & Saturdays which are the towns market days. There are double yellow lines outside where disabled badge holders may park for 3 hours when dispaying their badge. There is also parking within the town centre and the surrounding side streets. The nearest pay and display car park is approximately 100 metres away and parking here is also free for disabled badge holders.
There are also 3 off-road mobility scooters available for hire which are ideal for country walks. The vehicles can be delivered to surrounding rural areas for a small charge providing transport is available at the requested time.
All scooters and wheelchairs may be available for hire outside the stated times/days providing someone is around to open up. Please telephone for further details.
There is also a commode, toilet seat raiser, perching stool, walking frame and a set of bed raisers which can be loaned out. These are ideal for those visiting the area or those who are awaiting mobility equipment from the occupational therapist.
In addition to hiring out mobility equipment the office also has a small display of visually impaired items for sale. These can be purchased and taken immediately and other items from the catalogues will be delivered to the cabin usually within 3 working days.
Also available to buy are small mobility products such as grabbers, radar keys, disabled badge holders and new clocks for the blue badges. Any questions do not hesitate to contact us.
Ribble Valley Shopmobility is greatful of any donated equipment. Without the generosity of the public the scheme would not be able to provide such a large number of mobility equipment.
